i'll speak for myself i don't feel like letting go and i'm staring at the past like i lost myself somewhere behind i see redemption here still i lie awake on nights like these when the wine just leaves me numb and the bread can't seem to fill me up you were right. you were right. its cold and winter is coming in don't lie. baby, don't lie. because i'm tired and we've been there before when i was a boy my heart was strong and tied to you now my heart is drunk and in bed with some forbidden fruit this silence grows in me and i can't seem to make a sound we were lost at sea until someone put the anchor down you were right. you were right. we're alone and the tide is coming in don't lie baby, don't lie. because i'm tired and we've been there before you were right. you were right. we're alone and the tide is coming in don't lie baby, don't lie because i'm tired and i just want to call you my home

I spend my nights in the shadow of Lincoln, reading his words and it sets me thinking Can you keep a good man down with a bullet in his head? Honey, if that's the way it goes, we're as good as dead. I walk to the stairs where Martin once stood, with a fire in his belly and a sharp word. Thinking can you keep a good man down with a bullet in his head? Honey, if that's the way it goes, we're as good as dead. Abraham Lincoln had a Sovereign, had a son. I see the pain in his eyes and I'm not the only one. Martin all of my dreams are coming undone. Jesus, save me from it all. Jesus Christ, you've got to hold me together Let my fears take flight light as a feather. Can you keep a good man down with a bullet in his head? Jesus, if that's the way it goes, we're as good as dead.

Beautiful girl, you left me like a child, tired for you, and thinking of your eyes If I ever get out of here you know I'll pick you up slow and take you with me Somewhere in the hills, there's a light that leaves you blind And paints the world until you begin to change your mind If I ever get out of here you know I'll turn myself around If I ever get out of here you know I'll turn myself around (enter harmonica binge) If I ever get out of here you know I'll pick you up slow and take you with me If I ever get out of here you know I'm never coming back Beautiful girl, you left me like a child, tired for you, and thinking of your eyes

about

These are Demos and B-Sides from an Album that never came to be. Most of the songs were fleshed out and ready to be mixed/mastered when a power-outage fried a hard drive and fired all the songs into the Dark Abyss of Frustration and Technical Difficulty. Here stand the remnants and ruins - testaments to what might have been, or what will be?

The incredible Artwork is by Christo, and these are all for you buddy. I hope you are warm and hopeful. Hardly a day goes by that I don't wish I was near you. Hold tight.

(More artifacts rest at darkcountenance.blogspot.com - scour them if you dare.)
